거대자본의 시장 장악과 상인들의 고령화, 시설의 노후화 등으로 농촌지역의 많은 전통시장들은 생기를 잃어가고 있다. 오랫동안 지역의 경제를 순환시키고 이웃과의 중요한 교류의 터전이었던 장터에서 실험예술제는 문화예술을 통한 시장의 새로운 역할을 상상한다.
